Here at Baysgarth School we are very proud to have the Humber Skills Centre on site, where students have unique opportunities to experience working with industry standard equipment in purpose built environments. Our extensive resources and skilled teaching staff offer our students a wide range of opportunities, which include Motor Vehicle Engineering, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Machining, Electronics, Mechanisms, Hair & Beauty and other vocational qualifications.
The Humber Skills Centre has two workshops, a salon and an IT suite. The first workshop is a dedicated motor vehicle facility, which includes a two post car lift, tyre changing and balancing equipment along with hand tools and machinery. The second workshop is for general purpose use including, construction and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) projects.
The salon has a reception area, where our students rehearse how to meet, greet and prepare clients for their appointments. The salon has backwash and hairdressing stations for our students to practice different hair care services and treatments.
From September 2017 we are running the new BTEC Tech Awards in Engineering alongside the VCVT Level 2 in Hair & Beauty. These courses provide fantastic opportunities for our students to learn vocational skills as well as being excellent foundations for further education and apprenticeships.
