GCSE Results 2017
31st August 2017
Baysgarth School is once again celebrating some excellent GCSE results for our students.
Amid the inaugural year for the nationally reformed GCSE system, Baysgarth’s results reflect the phenomenal dedication and hard work demonstrated by our staff and students over the past five years.
In addition to our Year 11s, we also celebrated Year 10 English Language results today, with many students achieving the highest grades in this subject a year early!
It is important to remember that this year has been a busy one in the school’s history, and one that has brought its own challenges, as we moved to our brand new campus and state of the art facilities, where we continue to go from strength to strength.
Year 11 student Ben Papworth, who was one of three students who achieved the maximum Grade 9 in Maths, said “I’d like to thank my teachers for all their hard work this year; without them I would not have been able to get my Grade 9 in Maths and two A*’s in Science as well”.
Year 11 student, George Meadows, said: “I would like to thank my teachers, who helped me get an A* in Biology, which I was not expecting, and I am very happy to get; that’s amazing!”
Will Brandrick, Year 11, wanted to thank all his teachers, “They have helped me get such good grades, even though I wasn’t here for the full year due to illness; I got an A* in Chemistry and Physics!”
Ellie McWilliam said: “I am really overwhelmed with my results, especially my English Language after getting a Grade 9, which is the top 2% of the country, so I would like to thank all of my teachers at Baysgarth School”.
Richard Briggs, Head Teacher, said “Despite the challenges that the school has faced over the last year with moving into a brand new school and delivering the new and more difficult GCSEs in English and Maths, we have still produced good results. We still don’t know the headline Progress 8 figure yet but all the indications are that this will be positive again this year, which will cement our reputation as one of the top preforming schools in the region. Baysgarth is now full in Year 7 and will be full for every year group from now on and this reflects the first class facilities we have on site as well as our fantastic students and staff who make this a great place to learn”.
