Get Ahead Partnership
The Get Ahead Partnership is a school based, not for profit service with a close connection to local primary, secondary and special schools. They provide a vital service in physical activity, health and well-being to give young people every opportunity to be healthy in both mind and body. The Get Ahead Partnership is based on the school site.
One of the key areas for their schools offer is the development of opportunities in PE and sport for all young people in the area. They offer a wide range of programmes available to schools in North Lincolnshire raising the profile of PE, specifically in relation to teaching and learning.
As well as their wide school offer, they have specifically developed a number of programmes to tackle childhood obesity and emotional wellbeing. Through their Get Going Programme they offer a invaluable service for young people to help combat these issues. The Get Going Programme is split into two services, Get Going and Get Going Wellbeing. These programmes are for children above a healthy weight and those requiring emotional support aged between 4 and 16 years old.
In addition, their healthy schools initiative ‘Let’s Get Healthy’ aims to support schools to bring about measurable, high impact changes and to assist in the delivery of the UK-wide Government led Childhood Obesity Plan.
In May 2018, the Get Ahead Partnership won a regional award for its innovative programme ‘Do Yourself Proud’ at an annual Regional School Games Organiser (SGO) Conference for the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands, in York - the full press release can be downloaded HERE!
