About Baysgarth School

Catering
We offer a range of healthy freshly cooked foods, which meet the new food-based standards.

Secondary school food reflects the 'high street offer', with freshly made sandwiches, baguettes, hot filled rolls, jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings, as well as traditional dishes and international flavours

Meals are competitively priced, with some items priced individually and 'meal deals' which offer best value. North Lincolnshire Council work hard with schools individually to create an enjoyable, relaxed dining area.

School's Catering produces its meals from traditional kitchens without the use of mass production or re-heating processes, and sources as many of its ingredients as locally as possible.

Meals are nutritious and designed to meet government standards for all 14 main nutrients, including carbohydrate, fat, protein and fibre

Items on the menu have been analysed using the 'Saffron Nutritional Analysis System' software, which monitors the levels of nutrients present in food

Menus include British produced Harry Ramsden fish products, which meet the 'Marine Stewardship Council' standards

Menus include an increased use of:
• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Home made bread
• Seasonal and local produce
• Fresh meat and poultry
• Non-refined carbohydrates
• Healthier cooking methods

And a reduction in the use of:
• Processed foods
• Food additives
• Fat, sugar and salt

We offer an extensive range of meal deals, costing just £2.30 each, which are often themed cuisines. Other items are individually priced. For information on meals and what they cost please refer to the Pupil price list

Many schools also have a mid-morning break or breakfast service, as well as offering a pre order 'grab-a-bag' service, which offers a quick option, if students need to make a fast getaway at lunchtime.

How do I pay for school meals?

You can pay by sending dinner money into school on a weekly basis in the form of cheque. Cheques must have your child's name and registration group written on the back.

North Lincolnshire Council use an online payment system called squid for parents who wish to pay online. Please contact our main reception staff if you wish to create an account, or alternatively you can set one up using the link below.

Your child can also top up their balance using cash at the reval machine using the Biometric lunch payment system.

Biometric lunch payment system

The new biometric system was installed last year and will completely eliminate the need for students to remember their lunch card and go through the hassle of waiting for a temporary pass. This system makes it quicker for transactions to be carried out, which means that students can get through the tills much faster. All they will need to do is extend their hand to the finger print scanner, swipe their fingerprints, and let the system do its job.

Biometrics and Security
Students, parents and staff can rest assured that the fingerprint images cannot be used by any other source for identification purposes. The system uses an image of the finger to create a mathematical algorithm and then discards the finger image; only the numbers remain and these cannot be reinterpreted back into a finger image.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you need to take my child's finger image?
By taking an image of your child's finger we can turn this information into a digital signature.

Can finger images be used by any other agency?
No, the software we use turns your child's finger image in to a mathematical algorithm. The image of the finger is then discarded. The information that is stored cannot be used to recreate an image of the child's finger.

What happens when my child leaves the School?
When a student leaves school all data will be deleted.

How does it work?
When the child places his/her finger on the scanner, the software matches their finger image with the unique digital signature held in the database.

How to sign up
It is a statutory requirement within England & Wales (not the rest of the UK) to have explicit permission from a pupil's parent or carer to take a biometric scan of any kind. If you wish your child to participate, please download and complete the permission slip and return it to Student Support.
